The Rough Guide to Digital Photography written by Sophie Goldsworthy. The title of this book says it all, and is very helpful if you're just starting out in photography. It contains many useful tips and helps you understand your camera no matter what type you may have ( it even includes a section on phone cameras). Also it gives advice on different types of photography and how to maximize your shots in each type to create the feel your going for. Overall this book was extremely helpful and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about digital photography.

Photography and the Art of Seeing written by Freeman Patterson. This book is a visual perception workshop for film and digital photography. This book had a lot interesting tips on how to improve the way you see the world and how your thinking influences how you take pictures. It did mention a lot of different types of photography but I didn't find this one quite as interesting as the last book.
